Activate Windows 10 or 11 (Home and Pro)

Bought a Windows 10 or 11 Pro license but can’t activate it? Stuck on a Home edition and getting an error when upgrading to Pro? This guide walks you through activating Windows correctly, including upgrading from Home to Pro and fixing common errors.

What You Need

• The official Windows 10 or 11 license key you received from us.
• An active internet connection.

Activate Windows 10 or 11 Pro with Your License Key

If you already have Windows Pro installed, activate your license like this:

1. Open the Start menu and click Settings.
2. Go to System, then About.
3. Click Change product key or Activate Windows.
4. Enter the license key you received from us.
5. Click Next, then Activate.
6. After a few seconds, Windows is activated.

If you see the message “Windows is activated with a digital license”, everything is good.

Stuck on Windows Home? Upgrade to Pro First

If your PC came with Windows Home, you’ll get an error like “This product key doesn’t work with this edition of Windows” or “Cannot upgrade to Pro from this version”. Your system needs to be converted to Pro before you can use your license.

Upgrade Windows Home to Pro

Microsoft provides a standard, universal upgrade key that converts Windows Home to Pro without activating. After that, you can use your own license key.

Use this standard Microsoft Pro upgrade key: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

Here’s how:

1. Go to Settings, then System, then About.
2. Click Change product key.
3. Enter the key above and click Next.
4. The computer will indicate that the upgrade is starting. Click Upgrade and let the computer restart.

You’re now running Windows Pro, but not yet activated. Do that in the next step.

Activate with Your Own License Key

Now that your system is on Pro, go back to Settings, System, About and enter the license key you received from us. Click Activate. Your Windows 10 or 11 Pro is now activated.

Upgrading from Home to Pro Not Working?

Sometimes Windows refuses the upgrade from Home to Pro, even with the standard upgrade key. You can force it manually with a small script.

Download the upgrade file via this link: Download CMD file.

1. Right-click the downloaded file and choose “Run as administrator”.
2. The system will automatically convert Windows from Home to Pro. Restart the computer if prompted.
3. After the upgrade, enter your own license key via Settings, System, About, Change product key.
